Leaving Antarctica: New Friends, Old Friends, and Goodbyes

It’s 2:30 AM and I’m the only one still awake. The snow is coming down outside and has been since the afternoon. We’re still planning on leaving in about a half hour, but one never knows. The Golden Fleece, another Antarctic veteran, made an attempt at sailing out earlier today, but turned around and came back because of the weather. She’s now anchored alongside us and the Imvubu. It’s hard to believe that this is the end.
